This year I went to London for a big Indian wedding followed by Berlin and Paris.
It was a delight and I am now broke. But just what I needed middle of the year to freshen me up.
I’ve been swamped and I know I’ll give up on doing individual posts per place I went.
Some of these have been instagrammed, some have been just cropped, all are iPhone – I have no shame.
Enjoy.

This is a wall piece in the Hugo Boss store in Berlin. Its an ariel view of the city – you can see specific landmarks and its actually propped upon a wall at a 90° angle.
We wondered into the beautiful Marimekko store in Berlin (I had always considering purchasing their dresses online because I LOVE their prints so much – good thing I didn’t because they didn’t flatter) – my mother on the other hand, looks like she was born for Marimekko. She bought a dress and it makes her look like the sweetest thing (although that is not hard because she already looks like the sweetest thing). Craft heaven?
Interesting to note – they were close to bankruptcy in the 90s and were bought out. How hippie is their facebook page?
I thought it would be hard to find vegetarian food in Berlin. I was so wrong. I was right about this being the case in Paris tho…
This was an amazing chocolate cake and I couldn’t have more than 4 bites of it. So, so rich.
D and I popped into Honolulu Bar which is part of the Michelberger Hotel – it was so, so cool. Not in a boring, we’re super rich and this is how we flash it around way – but a really creative, fun, kooky way. If I ever go back to Berlin – I’d definitely book to stay here. We did Airbnb and it worked out super fine this time.
N found us the link for Monsieur Vuong – AMAZE-BALLS. Its essentially Vietnamese dishes, in big bowls – lots of salad options, great cocktails and an chilled out vibe. We went back twice and this is the incredible line outside. Mums the one in the yellow coat. She came in their branding colours. Apparently, you might find Bruce Willis here… Not that thats why I went. At all. Like totally.
And now for the finale. My absolute fave part of Berlin was the graffiti walking tour (its actually the Alternative Tour – we all know what they really mean).
I cannot explain how much I loved this – but I really want to try.
I feel like everything has been done before, seen before. 5 star restaurants, blockbuster movies, the new on-trend bomber jacket (darling, I wore that when I was in high school) blah blah blah. But graffiti done well always makes my brains pop. A thinker is frustrated / pissed off / passionate / inspired enough to get up and do something in the middle of the night and make their thoughts heard. Really challenges the concept of democracy.
Here are my interpretations…
Below: Are you chained by your Rolex?
Below: Man eats man type world?
Below: Theres an artist in Berlin who signs “x o” – nice take on the Chanel logo.
Below: That is one gorgeous face. I always assume when someone illustrates a woman with so much love, they must surely have a thing going. Just sayin..
The tour also took us to the wall. Doesn’t D have a perfect side profile? People say we look similar, but my side profile looks nothing like that.
Aaaahhh – two of us in front of the wall. Touristing.
The East wall has a portion of it which is called the East Side Gallery. The gist of it, is that a lot of artists have their work on it (don’t ask me for details, history isn’t my core area of interest let alone memory). I quite like this one. I like the original and I love that someone questioned it enough to make it a “she” as opposed to a “he”.
I loved Berlin. But Melbourne does me proud too. Majorly.
