Fail. Then Fail Again. Actually keep failing till you’re not afraid of the word anymore.
When we lost money in Kish+Co, I stopped taking risks.
I hadn’t run a business before, so while I saw the profit that could be made, I hadn’t seen the hard side of it.
And it came crashing on me.
Most of all, I blamed myself.
I was brought up on the “no excuses” philosophy.
And sure, it was my first time, there was a GFC in the making, our business had grown rapidly and we had grown with it. Sure. There were other factors.
But as far as I was concerned. I had failed.
Big time.
I withdrew.
I did the done things.
Mail outs. Networking. E-newsletters.
I did it all.
But I did it all blah.
It wasn’t very Kish at all.
Kish is a little kooky. She’s a little crazy.
She’s got more balls than me. And she isn’t afraid to be blunt when the occasion calls for it.
But that Kish was buried under failure.
It took a few friends in my life to help me bounce back up.
Bernadette was one of the first to talk to me about it.
It started sinking in.
I started to shake shit up.
I posted my most corporate client some cookies.
I put a “dancing hawaiian lady” stamp on envelopes.
The blog posts started to have more real content.
Kish+Co started to evolve.
Hey, I even said “No” to a client or two!
I really believe, failure is a good thing.
If you’re failing, you’re learning.
And business often feels like more failure and set backs, than success.
Now I know, if I’m failing, I’m on my way there.

I surely (truly, madly, deeply) hope this was beneficial to you.
Take from it what resounds with you and leave the stuff that doesn’t.

We are Kish+Co and we do a whole lot of stuff.
If it involves conversations around growing your company and designing to these conversations, then we’re on board.
Kish works with companies to help them get more >> whatever that more may be.
