This year I went to London for a big Indian wedding followed by Berlin and Paris.
It was a delight and I am now broke. But just what I needed middle of the year to freshen me up.
I’ve been swamped and I know I’ll give up on doing individual posts per place I went.
Some of these have been instagrammed, some have been just cropped, all are iPhone – I have no shame.
Enjoy.

D rocking a Kish & Evie (Dia De Los Muertos) scarf at a cool creperie (Creme de la Crepe) in Covent Garden. I’m a bit disappointed in myself this time, usually I list the food places I want to go to – but this time, I felt strapped for time and I just wanted to get out.
No food / interiors pictures, I only liked the lighting fixture, but their branding was very 1990s with a lot of vector work. But speaking of crepes, I only had one in Paris – and I think I need to make up for that… Nowish?
I went to the Damien Hirst exhibit and he blew my brains out. To be honest, I’ve seen his work before and never really felt it. So I wasn’t uber excited.
I went with my parents and there was a brief explanation per piece. This made all the difference. I love my Dad. He would just wonder around and I felt his reaction was kinda “eh schmeh”. But then later, I heard him telling someone else to go see it. Huge win moment.
If you’re in London, I’d definitely recommend it – Tate Modern is where its at till 9th September, 2012.
I also saw his infamous / famous skull piece with all the diamonds in it. No photography permitted inside the closed room. It was smaller than I expected, but Dr. D told me skulls are smaller than you think because its hard to envisage them without all the flesh, veins and other grub.
The thought of avocado juice doesn’t really float well with me. I adore avocados. Joe & The Juice made me try it and I loved it.
When I went to the Saatchi Gallery back in 2004, I thought it was the most amazing thing in the world. There were surprises around every corner. It was scary, enlightening, disturbing and I discovered so many of my favourite artists there.
This time, it just didn’t feel half as good. I loved a few pieces (pictured) – but I feel like the grunt is gone. Here are my favourite pieces.
This isn’t technically London – but my mum got me these AH-MAZING muesli bars from Copenhagen (I think). By Simply Chocolate, they are seriously orgasmic. I think it’s safe to add them to my “food I will travel for” list. Among which are Godiva Raspberry Biscuits – we introduced these to the designers and they disappeared quickly. To give you some idea of how specific I am – thats the only food I ask for when V travels.
I love columns. I also love letter forms taken from a building structure.
I discovered Gourmet Burger Kitchen with Maa and Papa. We were so hungry, I didn’t care that it looked mainstream (yes, I am so difficult, imagine what V puts up with). It was kind of weird, because as we absorbed more of the surroundings, the menu, the decor, we saw more and more Kiwiana. Check out this sauce, Kiwifruit and Habanero. We asked the waiter and he told us it was founded by 3 Kiwis.
I wish I could hug NZ. I often tell people I’m a NZer, a Melbournian and an Indian.
