This year I went to London for a big Indian wedding followed by Berlin and Paris. It was a delight and I am now broke. But just what I needed middle of the year to freshen me up. I’ve been swamped and I know I’ll give up on doing individual posts per place I went. Some of these have been instagrammed, some have been just cropped, all are iPhone – I have no shame. Enjoy. ++++++++++++++
A cuff for me from V via Halcyon State, designed by Totomoto. Space-invaders are a graffiti mosaic tile referencing space invaders. If you’re into graffiti which is left of field, find me on Instagram @kishandco – you might like a bit more on there. Graffiti on a paste up. A friend of mine thought it was odd that there is a QRS code there. I constantly, constantly question billboards and the ownership of space in our eyeline. Who gets to say what goes on that wall? And why can’t we use it to make change? If you are on a budget, there are free tours around Europe – I recommend Sandemans. (This tid bit via Agnes). We paid for the Montmartre tour and it was definitely worth it. I’ve been converted to walking tours. She showed us this rear view of the church (most tourists never see it and always try to photograph from the front), explained the self-cleaning cement / tiling used to build Montmartre and how that allows the dark dirty bits of the building to become a feature. I’ve always loved Montmartre, above Eiffel tower if I may. Same goes for Abu Simbel over the Pyramid of Giza. Yes, I wish they consulted me before they finalised the Wonders of the World. Instagram can make you sick. All those filters. But then you can also get giddy, excited and fall in love with how it makes your pictures look. Do you have a favourite filter? I like the Rise one… More mosaic tile graffiti. The old and the new. A lot of people asked me what my favourite part of the trip was. Hands down, it was taking my parents to Arc de Triomphe. I’ve been to Paris three times. There is little wonder. Marc Jacobs once said, he envies people who visit Paris for the first time and I know exactly what he means. To see my parents whip out their iPhones and walk slowly around the Arc de Triomphe with little eyes wide open. It felt like a reverse of nature, for a moment, they were the children. Papa kept pressing his video button on his phone and kept saying “Karishma, this isn’t doing it right, can you fix it?”. Bless. Best memories ever. OMG. Check out this lineup. So good it hurts. Not good enough to make me move to Paris. I think I love Melbourne much too much. Have a lovely weekend! ++++++++++++
