Cut-through. We’re all striving for our communication to be heard, for our audience to soak in our message. When we’re bombarded with hundreds of messages everyday, and with so much communication clutter it’s harder than ever to cut through.
We pay attention to something that’s unique. An idea that’s different. A visual that’s unexpected. Greensense provide software solutions to help organisations, councils and communities monitor their energy usage. And in the corporate world where data, energy efficiency and calculating costs are the topics of discussion, an e-book filled with fun illustrations of cute building characters is probably the last thing you’d expect to see.
The ‘Out of Hours’ e-book is a clever promotional piece to demonstrate to Greensense’s target audience the importance of energy efficiency, its challenges, and methods to implement to increase energy savings. The e-book format makes this information accessible, sharable and presents it in an interesting way.
Capturing and retaining attention with content that could be difficult or dry to digest can be a challenge, so we developed a suite of clean, vector illustrations to pepper throughout the e-book. Infographic-style illustrations served to support the main points of the content to quickly and easily communicate the key messages and help the reader retain these important points.
The smiling high-rise building quickly became the hero illustration, and has since made many other appearances in Greensense’s collateral design. He’s also been reinterpreted in various other forms to serve different purposes, such as a red-cheeked, puffed-out rec centre for Greensense’s green council building campaign.
The illustration style created for the e-book design has proven to be a valuable brand asset and create a unique visual style to engage Greensense’s audience in a clear and concise way.
